At the 2024 Munich Security Conference innovation night Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science & Technologies and Minister of Digital Transformation, Ukraine, Kyiv shared some impressive insights on the power of innovation. In less than 12 months, his country succeeded to establish an entire eco system for private sector contributions and real-world in-theater test-repeat-improve cycles of dual use technologies. The results are nothing short of stunning.
The motivation for this effort may be among the saddest in our century. But the example it sets is as bright as it can be. We do not know the outcome yet, but one thing is already sure: If the world’s innovators focus and co-operate they can achieve great things fast.
